This is my first pair of Tevas, and I am not disappointed. I have mostly worn cheap no-name sandals in the past, and I notice a huge difference in both the comfort and quality of these sandals.

I was originally going to get a sportier looking pair, but when I laid eyes on these I knew I wanted them instead. They are rugged enough for my jetty fishing and mountain-rampaging shenanigans, but go well with other clothes when dressed a little more…”casual-urban.”

The soles have a noticeable springiness to them, and are extremely comfortable. The insoles have a sort of velvet/suede feel that I like. They also just happen to fit like a glove.

I’ve noticed shoe sizes tend to vary a bit between manufactures, but I ordered 10.5, and they seem to be dead-on with what I consider to be a proper 10.5 size shoe. I rarely give 5 stars unless something exceeds my expectations, and this gets a 5!

I owned another pair of Teva sandals (don’t know the name of that last pair) that I wore for over six years, but after it started falling apart, I needed a new pair.

I was initially worried about the footbed of the sandal because I have hyperhidrosis and even though I had ETS performed in 1997, I still have some moderate to profuse sweating in my polar extremities (primarily, my hands and feet). The microfiber of this sandal is supposedly treated with Microban and the footbed is supposed to wick away any moisture…and when wearing these sandals, if my feet are sweating, they’re not sliding around. Only time will tell if the Microban will still work months or years from now.

Anyway, these sandals are very comfortable and I can see many long days spent in these sandals in many years to come.

There were many other excellent Teva deals, but these sandals looked more traditional and with the dressier leather, I don’t feel so guilty about wearing river sandals while I’m walking around the park or using them for everyday chores.

These sandals fit well, no rubbing, no rough spots, without socks! The cushioning is good, enough to protect the feet, not too much to cause loss of stability or control. And they look good.

Overall, it’s comfortable and well-designed. I returned mine immediately for a refund. Why? The little plastic buckle loop on the velcro strap that crosses the foot by toes: the little buckle has too narrow of a bad, and as a result, it digs into your foot.

I don’t wear socks with my sandals — to me, that defeats the joy and freedom of a sandal. These sandals will work for you if you wear socks. If you don’t, try another sandal because that little plastic piece digging into your foot will drive you crazy.

I was horribly disappointed with the Teva Fossil Canyon Sandals. These are my 4th Leather Tevas. The first one, which I loved and used almost daily, dates from 1998 and finally broke down yesterday when one of the straps failed. The new ones have become progressively flimsier. The ones I bought last month have crappier thin and brittle leather, with single stitches and they even did away with the hand logo embossed on the leather, to lower cost. I certainly do not expect them to last till 2022. I guess will be looking for another brand sandals now.
